Specs & features.
PGA is a synthetic linear polymer constructed from glycolic acid monomers. The filaments are extruded and braided together into a multi-strand configuration. To counteract the high friction and tissue drag associated with raw braided materials, PGA threads are coated with a smooth, biocompatible lubricant (typically calcium stearate or polycaprolactone).

- High Initial Tensile Strength: Provides exceptionally strong immediate tissue approximation, retaining roughly 70% to 80% of its original strength at 2 weeks, and roughly 50% at 3 weeks post-surgery.
- Braided Multifilament Construction: Woven structure provides superb flexibility and pliability with zero package memory, allowing the strand to lie flat and mold perfectly to the surgeon's hand.
- Superb Knot Security: The interlocking physical friction of the braided strands ensures that knots lock firmly in place with a very low risk of unraveling or slipping under tissue tension.
