Castration Band Rubber

In stock

Castration bands (elastration bands) are thick latex or rubber rings used in veterinary medicine for bloodless castration and tail docking in young livestock like calves, lambs, and goats. They are stretched using an applicator to cut off blood supply to the tissues, which then slough off naturally.

Specs & features.

These bands are made from highly elastic, heavy-duty latex formulated to maintain continuous, high-tension pressure. They are generally small, circular loops designed to stretch securely over the prongs of an Elastrator Tool or heavy-duty banding device. When released around the base of the scrotum or a tail, the stretched band immediately attempts to shrink, constricting blood vessels.

  • Bloodless Procedure: Unlike surgical methods, banding avoids open wounds, which significantly lowers the risk of hemorrhaging and bacterial infections.
  • Various Tension Levels: Standard elastrator rings are ideal for very young animals (under 1-3 weeks old). For older or larger livestock, thicker high-tension bands and specialized tension tools (e.g., Callicrate Bander) are utilized.
  • Self-Amputation: The restricted blood flow causes the testicles and scrotum to necrose (die), dry up, and fall off naturally within 2 to 4 weeks.
